Sanwa Warehouse will construct a new temperature-controlled automated warehouse in Midori Ward, Yokohama City, in June. This facility will meet the needs of pharmaceutical and food logistics, which require strict temperature control and efficiency. Quality control will be implemented in accordance with the latest GDP guidelines, with pharmacists on staff.
The new warehouse has a total floor area of 7941.9 m2 and achieves a storage capacity of approximately 5000 pallets through a double-deep automated warehouse system.
The location is ideal for distribution to the western part of the Tokyo metropolitan area, being 5 km (13 minutes) from the Tomei Expressway Yokohama Aoba Interchange, 9 km (20 minutes) from the Tomei Expressway Yokohama Machida Interchange, approximately 15 km (35 minutes) from Yokohama Port, and approximately 25 km (40 minutes) from Haneda Airport.
The facility is equipped with a 24-hour temperature monitoring system, air conditioning in all rooms (constant temperature and humidity control of 20-25°C), and dustproof flooring throughout. High-quality product storage is ensured through GMP management and pharmaceutical manufacturing licenses. Lot management is thoroughly implemented through the system, and a backup system is also in place.

Each floor from the 1st to the 3rd floor can be used as a dedicated space for the shipper. Vertical transport using an omni-lifter ensures independent movement routes for each floor, avoiding the risk of mixing with or contacting other cargo.
Furthermore, the system reduces environmental impact through self-generation using solar panels, LED lighting, and high-efficiency air conditioning. It is also equipped with emergency power supplies, vibration-damping racks, and dampers to maintain a stable supply even during disasters.
Because it is an all-weather berth, cargo handling operations are not interrupted even in rainy weather, and the dock leveler is equipped to shorten cargo handling time and reduce the burden on drivers.
In the Tokyo metropolitan area, there is a growing need for temperature-controlled warehouses for pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. The pharmaceutical industry, in particular, is required to comply with GDP guidelines, leading to increased demand for warehouses with high-quality management systems.
