On July 14, T2 and Konan Shoji began a commercial service using autonomous trucks to regularly transport products for their home improvement store "Konan" on certain sections of expressways between the Kanto and Kansai regions.
Konan Shoji handles a large volume of its own products and transports them over long distances from Kansai to Kanto and Kyushu, making it particularly susceptible to the impact of the truck driver shortage.
In response to these challenges, the company has been working on various initiatives, including improving inventory management for its own products, establishing new distribution centers, and proactively adopting automated sorting equipment.
Starting in September 2025, we began a demonstration project using T2 Level 2 autonomous trucks to transport goods from home improvement stores.
The demonstration was conducted four times until April 2026, confirming that there were no problems with the safety or transport quality of the autonomous trucks. It was then decided to transition to commercial operation with regular cargo transport.
Commercial operations will cover a section of approximately 520 km between Konan Shoji Kawasaki Logistics Center (Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture) and Konan Shoji Kaizuka Logistics Center (Kaizuka City, Osaka Prefecture) (the Level 2 automated driving section is approximately 410 km between the Tomei Expressway Ayase Smart Interchange and the Keiji Bypass Kumiyama Junction), transporting Konan's own products, mainly materials and daily necessities, that are handled by "Konan" stores.
