Nichirei Logistics: System failure due to unauthorized access affects inbound and outbound operations at refrigerated warehouses. July 14, 2026 |
On July 13, the day the system failure occurred, Nichirei established an emergency response headquarters and proceeded with investigations and measures to restore service. As a result, they confirmed that the servers had been subjected to a cyberattack.
Because personal information was stored on some of the affected servers, we initially reported the incident to the Personal Information Protection Commission as a potential data breach.
Following this cyberattack, on July 13th, the company prioritized protecting the personal information and customer data of its customers and business partners, and took measures to shut down the systems used by the group.
This shutdown has affected warehousing operations at the cold storage warehouses of Nichirei Logistics Group companies, as well as frozen food shipping operations at Nichirei Foods. However, after implementing safety measures with an external security specialist company, operations are scheduled to resume sequentially from July 17th.
The company stated that it will continue its investigation and will promptly report any leaks or other issues to the relevant parties if any are discovered.
