Mitsubishi Corporation and Medipal Holdings announced on August 7th that they have signed a new business alliance agreement with the aim of promoting comprehensive collaboration in the fields of healthcare, food, and daily necessities.
Furthermore, the two companies, which previously held an 80/20 stake in M.C. Healthcare HD, will now each hold a 50% stake. As joint management partners, the three companies will work together to enhance corporate value.
The two companies have been pursuing a comprehensive partnership in the medical business since September 2005, but this time they are expanding the scope of that partnership to include not only the healthcare field but also the entire food and daily necessities sector.
The partnership aims to optimize the entire process, from procurement and logistics to operational support, in response to social challenges such as an aging population, a shortage of medical personnel, rising logistics costs, and instability in the supply of pharmaceuticals. It will also involve collaboration in a wide range of areas, including pharmaceutical support, self-care and preventative services, healthcare data utilization, and health support through food.
Specifically, the company will leverage its expertise and logistics network in medical products to support the operational efficiency of medical institutions and strengthen their supply chain. In addition, it will further expand logistics collaboration between Mitsubishi Foods, a group company of Mitsubishi Corporation, and PALTAC, a daily necessities wholesaler within the Medipal Group.
Furthermore, the two companies aim to deepen their collaboration through personnel exchanges and create new value in the healthcare, food, and daily necessities sectors.
