According to the first-quarter financial results for the fiscal year ending March 2027, announced by Nippon Oil Transportation on August 7, net sales were 9.099 billion yen (up 4.0% year-on-year), operating profit was 69 million yen (down 68.2%), ordinary profit was 207 million yen (down 34.6%), and net profit attributable to parent company shareholders was 152 million yen (down 23.5%).

By segment, sales in the petroleum transportation business were 4.061 billion yen (up 0.3%), but the segment incurred a loss of 8 million yen (compared to a profit of 180 million yen in the previous period) due to increased personnel costs and maintenance and repair costs for railway tank cars and depots.

In the high-pressure gas transportation business, sales reached 2.419 billion yen (a 4.0% increase) due to new shipments, increased demand, and progress in freight rate revisions. However, the segment incurred a loss of 27 million yen (compared to a loss of 9 million yen in the previous period) due to increased expenses related to personnel costs and growth investments.

In the chemical products and container transport business, while domestic sales of chemical products remained strong, a decrease in demand for container transport and a decline in sales of used containers resulted in net sales of 2.486 billion yen (up 10.7%) and segment profit of 44 million yen (compared to a loss of 14 million yen in the previous period).

Furthermore, the full-year consolidated earnings forecast has not been released at this time due to the uncertainty surrounding the supply and demand trends for the group's main businesses, petroleum transportation and high-pressure gas transportation, as a result of the prolonged situation in the Middle East.

Nippon Oil Transportation's financial results: Sales up 3.9% and operating profit up 20.2% for the fiscal year ending March.
