Alpico Kotsu, a consolidated subsidiary of Alpico Holdings (HD), will launch the Alpico Group's first drone-based material transport service on September 1st.
This service uses drones to safely and efficiently transport construction materials, equipment, tools, beverages, and food to sites that are difficult for people or heavy machinery to access, such as mountainous areas and steep slopes.
Specifically, the company will transport materials to mountain lodges and facilities, construction and civil engineering sites, forestry and erosion control sites, power generation facilities and infrastructure equipment, as well as disaster prevention materials for local governments. The company also plans to respond to the transportation of supplies to isolated areas caused by natural disasters, which have become increasingly severe in recent years.
Drone transport will be carried out through a joint operation between Stone Morris, which has extensive operational experience in mountain logistics within Nagano Prefecture, and Mount Libra. By combining the operational technology and safety management know-how cultivated by each company, a new regional logistics service will be provided.
The Alpico Group plans to expand beyond material transport to develop new services utilizing drones in areas such as logistics, infrastructure maintenance, collaboration with local governments, and disaster relief.
