On September 3rd, C-Net, a developer and provider of cloud-based warehouse management systems (WMS), announced the launch of a new insurance-type, standby WMS service called "ci.Himalayas/Standby" to ensure that logistics operations can continue without interruption even in the event of a system failure, until the system is restored.

"ci.Himalayas/Standby" is a service that keeps a standard Himalayas environment on standby for use in emergencies, separate from the main WMS used on a daily basis.

If the main WMS becomes unavailable, the system will switch to a standby environment using pre-stored data, allowing essential shipping operations to continue. This avoids a situation where all shipping operations come to a halt due to system failure, ensuring that necessary logistics operations continue until recovery is complete.

However, without using advanced features, the goal is to ensure the continuation of logistics operations in the simplest way possible. "ci.Himalayas/Standby" does not rely on handheld terminals or complex system integrations, but instead employs a simple operation centered on manual import of CSV data and the output of documents such as picking lists and delivery slips.

In recent years, the risk of logistics hubs shutting down has increased due to the increasing severity of natural disasters, cyberattacks, and large-scale system failures. A WMS (Warehouse Management System) failure directly leads to the suspension of shipments of food and daily necessities, delivery delays, and lost sales opportunities, significantly impacting the continuity of logistics. Therefore, the system was developed with the perspective of "keeping operations running until the system is restored," rather than "waiting for the system to recover."

Since the standby WMS is not a system used on a daily basis, the pricing structure will be designed to make it easy to maintain it continuously as insurance in case of emergencies.
