General-purpose humanoid "Gino"

Gino is a humanoid robot that aims to automate detailed tasks previously performed by humans by linking visual information from a camera with AI and a dual-arm, three-fingered hand. It is intended for use in tasks that were difficult for conventional robots to handle, such as retrieving dropped objects, correcting the position of boxes, picking, packing, and inspecting products.

CEO Yamato Kato said, "The shortage of manpower in the logistics field is becoming serious, and it is becoming difficult to gather people in warehouses. In this environment, we aim to standardize work quality and reduce manpower by replacing tasks that have relied on humans with robots."

Gino is currently conducting a proof-of-concept (POC) in China, and has already received orders from developers, manufacturers, and retailers in Japan. "There is a strong need to introduce and test the product in the field from an early stage. By actually using it and upgrading it based on that experience, the humanoid will evolve like a living creature and fit into the field," says Kato.

The company anticipates that humanoid robots will be implemented in logistics sites within the next two to three years, and aims to sell 100 units domestically by next year. They plan to accelerate practical application by conducting trials and making improvements through early deployment.

In addition, the booth showcased demonstrations of four products, including the next-generation high-density storage solution "SkyCube" and the GTP (Goods-to-Person) system "PopPick Lite." The company demonstrated how its strengths—"overwhelmingly fast deployment" and "flexible small-scale start with reduced initial investment"—can be combined with cutting-edge physical AI in the form of humanoid robots.

SkyCube is a solution that combines AGVs on the first floor and RGVs on the second floor and above to achieve high-density storage and high throughput. It can handle B2B and B1C inbound and outbound shipments in the same area, aiming to achieve both high storage density and throughput. Compared to conventional stacker crane type automated warehouses, it can secure more storage capacity and is said to be more cost-effective. Earthquake resistance is also one of its features.

Mr. Kato commented, "The response from visitors was overwhelmingly positive, and I feel this marks a turning point in the way we think about material handling, which has been around for the past 30 years. Visitors are becoming more discerning, and they are incorporating these technologies into their own companies, testing them, and studying them. We want to do more than just showcase new technologies; we want to develop and provide something that truly hits the mark."

The booth also hosted "Real Voice," a dialogue-style event featuring companies that have implemented the system. Logistics managers from 3PL, mail-order/e-commerce, and manufacturing companies were invited as guests to discuss the background, on-site operation, and effects of the system.
