Tokai Unyu's board of directors decided at a meeting on September 29 to dissolve and liquidate its consolidated subsidiary, Kanto Air Cargo. The company will be dissolved on September 30, with liquidation expected to be completed around May 2027.
Since becoming a wholly owned subsidiary in December 2008, it has played a vital role in Tokai Unyu Group's land transportation functions in the Tokyo metropolitan area. However, the business environment surrounding the freight trucking industry has become increasingly serious, with driver shortages and soaring fuel and vehicle-related costs.
While we have been working to improve profitability by downsizing our operations, securing stable profits has remained difficult. After careful consideration of the optimal allocation of management resources across the entire group and the efficiency of management, we have determined that dissolution and liquidation are appropriate.
Furthermore, Kanto Air Cargo plans to transfer any sustainable transportation operations it has been running to group companies, taking measures to ensure that its business partners are not inconvenienced.
