Nippon Pallet Rental (JPR) has launched a "delivery guidance" service that provides truck drivers with information about the delivery destination's premises.
When truck drivers responsible for inter-company transportation head to designated delivery or pickup locations, they need information such as the destination address, the route to take within the premises, the check-in procedure, and the waiting area. While it is common for dispatchers at transportation companies to convey this information verbally or through memos, delivery errors due to miscommunication and accidents/problems at pickup and delivery locations have been a problem.
The "Delivery Information" service provides truck drivers with necessary information for delivery, including the delivery address, the route to take within the premises, how to check in, and where they can wait. Drivers can then view this information on their smartphones or other devices.
Furthermore, the "Delivery Information" service allows drivers to report waiting times and work details to the dispatch manager. It can also be customized to create a work report unique to each company.
By systematizing information sharing, this initiative contributes to improved safety and reduced burden for truck drivers, dispatch departments at transportation companies, and delivery destinations, as well as smoother operations. It also helps alleviate the truck driver shortage in the logistics industry by reducing stress among truck drivers and eliminating the problem of fixed assignments.
It has already been implemented by 27 companies and 44 locations, including Asahi Logistics and Sankyu Transport East Japan.
