Senko and Sekisui House announced on October 1st that they have begun an initiative to utilize renewable energy for charging EV trucks used for delivering housing materials.

Sekisui House's Kanto Plant (Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture) will utilize renewable energy generated by solar power from Sekisui House homeowners for logistics purposes.

"Sekisui House Owner Denki" is a system that purchases surplus electricity generated by solar power from Sekisui House homeowners whose feed-in tariff (FIT) purchase period has expired, and utilizes it for the business activities of the Sekisui House Group.

This will be used by Senko to power two EV trucks that Senko uses to deliver housing materials and other items for Sekisui House, utilizing the charging facilities installed at the Senko Ibaraki Vehicle Center.

While electricity procured through "Sekisui House Owner Electricity" has been used in Sekisui House factories and offices in the past, this is the first time it will be used for the logistics of housing materials.

Going forward, Senko and Sekisui House will verify the operational status and CO2 emission reduction effects at the Kanto factory, and consider expanding the system to other factories, promoting decarbonization of the entire supply chain, including logistics.

In September 2023, Senko introduced the "eCanter," a flatbed medium-sized EV truck—the first of its kind in the domestic housing industry—for the delivery of housing materials to Sekisui House. Two of these trucks are stationed at the Senko Ibaraki Vehicle Center, and deliveries of housing materials from Sekisui House's Kanto factory to construction sites have begun.

■ Overview of the initiative
Start of operation: April 2026
Location: Sekisui House Kanto Factory (Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture)
