Japan Post and Kuradashi, which operates the social good marketplace "Kuradashi," announced on October 2nd that they will jointly begin offering "post chef," a frozen meal delivery service from the post office, starting on October 8th.
This service offers frozen home-delivered meals that prioritize nutritional balance and taste, and can be easily enjoyed in a microwave. The service is available through tablet terminals installed at post office counters, the post office's online shop (web), and by telephone.
Japan Post and Kuradashi entered into a capital and business alliance in August 2025. As one of the initiatives under this alliance, they have been planning a frozen meal delivery service utilizing the post office network.
While the options for frozen meal delivery have expanded recently, some people are uncomfortable using internet-based services or feel unsure about choosing products.
By combining in-person interactions at post offices nationwide with online and telephone ordering options, the company hopes to broaden the range of daily meal choices for people who have previously had little opportunity to use frozen meal delivery services.
Furthermore, Kuradashi aims to provide a service that offers both peace of mind and convenience, leveraging the product development and operational know-how it has cultivated through its food business, including food waste reduction.
